Playing sticky-hands with a humanoid robot
This work is done in collaboration with the ATR Computational Neuroscience Labs, Department of Humanoid Robotics and Computational Neuroscience and explores interactions between humans and the ATR humanoid robot known as DB. We are currently working on ways to enable DB to play the tai chi game of sticky hands where two partners place their hands in contact and cooperatively develop a trajectory. The goal of this game is to foster a comfortable physical intimacy between partners. Currently, DB can learn the motion of its human partner and we are working on ways to modulate DBs movements to express affect.
