Perception Action and Cognition

Welcome to the PaCo Lab

We have developed methods to create movement exaggerations based on prototypes and examined whether they could be used to enhance recognition of the style of a movement. The exaggeration technique involves collecting a library of 3D movement recordings and then manipulating spatial or temporal differences between individual movements and style averages (prototypes) to create new movements. We have exaggerated temporal differences to obtain enhanced recognition of identity and spatial differences to obtain enhanced recognition of style of tennis serve. Given the success of both spatial and temporal exaggeration techniques we are currently considering the role of spatiotemporal interactions such as velocity.
